Vanrenen Hanbury works on a small number of projects at a time, so that Sarah and Laura can be closely involved at every stage. 

We believe in combining the creativity of interior design with the practicality of interior planning to create beautiful, characterful, liveable spaces. Throughout the design process we work closely with our clients to understand their vision and how they want to live whilst also respecting the location, atmosphere and architecture of the building.

In striving to create homes that do not look overly designed and that feel that they have naturally evolved, we work with skilled craftsmen to create bespoke upholstery, furniture and lighting that is unique to each project. Our instinctive layering of pattern, colour and texture combined with our careful sourcing of art, antiques and vintage pieces lends unique character to each Vanrenen Hanbury project.

Full Design Service: Our Full Design Service is for clients who want our involvement in designing an entire home or premises from the early concept and planning stages through to final installation and completion.

We typically work alongside architects and contractors from the outset of a project. Prior to planning we are often involved to ensure that the general layouts work on a practical level, overlaying architects’ plans with kitchen and bathroom designs as well as lighting and electrical layouts.

In this way, we also make sure that early considerations have been made for furniture, artwork, lighting and window treatments and that the rooms and spaces are harmonious. So often the practical elements that make a house a comfortable place to live can be overlooked in the early stages and it becomes more costly and complicated to amend these further down the line.

Once the initial layouts and architectural detailing are right, we then work with our clients to build the layered, elegant and comfortable interiors that the Vanrenen Hanbury studio has become known for. 

Remote Design Service: For valued clients based abroad we can provide our full design service as listed above. Communication is maintained through regular video calls, site visits as requested and working with our global network of trusted suppliers and craftsmen.

Online Consultations: Tailored for clients who are looking for guidance with smaller projects or a particular element of a larger renovation. During a one hour video call we can offer advice on a room layout, lighting choices, colour schemes, joinery and accessories.
